WOOD FLOORS
We carry two styles of wood floors.
Solid timber comes in tongue and groove form and is usually 15mm or 19mm thick. Width can be from 90mm to 150mm.
Many species are available.
Unless we are sure the timber is legally logged and in a sustainable manner Fine Floors will not sell the product.
Solid timber is either direct stuck or pinned to the sub-floor. Once fitted sanding and coating is required.
Coating with polyurethane is a surface protection that will absorb scratching to a degree.
Applying oils will enhance the natural colour and allow the timber to recover from marking.
All timber will scratch and mark. It is what timber does.
Laminated or engineered wood is a 4 or 5mm natural timber layer laminated to a ply [usually] backing totalling 14mm.
It is pre- finished.
Installation can be either direct stick or floated over a thin foam underlay.
